This workshop offers a comprehensive examination of the legal framework governing defence & security procurement within the European Union, focusing on Directive 2009/81/EC and its practical application. Participants will gain in-depth insights into procurement procedures, criteria and requirements, relevant case law, and strategic compliance challenges specific to the defence sector. The workshop also addresses key issues such as national security exemption, security of supply and supplier risk management, the balance between transparency and confidentiality in defence contracts, the joint procurement efforts vis-à-vis the Russia war on Ukraine.
